What you get as a Nannvo nanny

We treat nannies as professionals — free to join, fairly matched, and supported through vetting from application to placement.

🆕

No fee to join

Free to apply and register. Families pay through all-in hourly rates — nannies never pay to join the network.

🎯

Roles that fit your location, schedule, and experience. We only reach out with family profiles you'd actually want to meet.

👥

Trusted families only

Every family enquiry is reviewed before we make an introduction. You'll only meet households with clear requirements and verified contact details.

📅

Flexible placements

Full-time, part-time, live-in, after-school, or overnight — choose the arrangement that suits your life and career goals.

🛡

Full vetting support

We guide you through DBS or PVG, identity checks, references, interview, and insurance verification — step by step, not all at once.

📋

PL insurance help

Need public liability cover? Eligible nannies can claim up to £59 towards their first annual policy once vetting is complete — we verify certificates before every placement.

What We Look For

Requirements & our vetting process

We maintain high standards to ensure every family gets the very best care. Here's what you'll need to join. Every nanny passes the same 6-step vetting process before matching.

1
Childcare experience

Minimum 1–2 years of verifiable professional childcare experience - as a nanny, nursery worker, au pair, or similar role.

2
Enhanced DBS or PVG

A current Enhanced DBS certificate is required for England and Wales. Scottish applicants must hold a valid PVG Scheme membership.

3
Professional references

Two professional references who can speak to your childcare experience. We contact references personally - not just by email.

4
Right to work in the UK

You must have legal right to work in the UK. We verify identity documents (passport or biometric residence permit) during the vetting process.

5
Public liability insurance

Valid UK public liability insurance is required before your first placement. We verify your certificate during onboarding. If you need a new policy, eligible nannies can claim up to £59 back on their first annual premium after vetting.

6
Paediatric First Aid (preferred)

A current Paediatric First Aid certificate is not always mandatory but is strongly preferred and will significantly improve your chances of placement.

Our 6-step vetting process

📄
Application & experience review

We review your application, childcare experience, and availability before any document checks begin.

🛡
Enhanced DBS or PVG

We verify your Enhanced DBS certificate (or PVG Scheme membership in Scotland) is genuine, in date, and matches you.

📝
Identity & right to work

We verify photo ID, proof of address where required, and your legal right to work in the UK.

💬
Professional references

We contact at least two professional referees personally to confirm your childcare experience and reliability.

📞
Suitability interview

A call with a Nannvo team member to discuss your background, safeguarding approach, and the roles you're looking for.

📋
Public liability insurance

We verify valid UK public liability cover before your first placement. Eligible nannies can claim up to £59 towards their first annual policy.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before applying.

Do I need experience to apply with Nannvo?
We ask for a minimum of 1–2 years of professional childcare experience. This can include previous nanny roles, nursery work, or au pair positions. Relevant childcare qualifications (e.g. CACHE, NNEB, Level 3 Childcare) are a bonus but not always essential.
Do I need my own DBS check?
Yes. You must hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate (or PVG Scheme record if based in Scotland) before being placed with a family. If your existing DBS is more than 3 years old, we will ask you to apply for an updated one. If you don't have one yet, you can apply online - the process typically takes 2–4 weeks.
Do I need public liability insurance?
Yes - before your first placement. Policies from providers such as Nannyinsure or Morton Michel typically cost around £59–£90 per year. We verify your certificate during vetting. If you need a new policy, eligible nannies can claim up to £59 back on their first annual premium once approved (one claim per nanny).
Does Nannvo charge nannies to join?
There is no fee for nannies to register with Nannvo. Families pay through all-in hourly rates and a one-off employer setup fee - you simply apply, complete the vetting process, and we match you with suitable families at no cost to you.
How quickly can I be placed with a family?
Once your application and vetting are complete, placements can happen within days to a few weeks depending on your availability, location, and the types of roles you're looking for. High-demand areas like London and Manchester often have faster turnaround times.
Can I work in multiple locations across the UK?
Yes. If you're open to relocating or looking for a live-in role in a different city, we can search our national family database across all the locations we operate. Just let us know your preferences in your application.
Should I register with Ofsted for Tax-Free Childcare?
Some families use Tax-Free Childcare, which requires the nanny to be on the approved register — Ofsted's Voluntary Childcare Register in England, or the Care Inspectorate in Scotland. Registration is optional and your choice; Nannvo does not register nannies on your behalf. Families who need Ofsted registration for TFC may prefer nannies who are already registered. See our employer guide — Tax-Free Childcare for how the scheme works from the family side.
Does Nannvo offer training for nannies?
We're building childcare training resources for nannies on the Nannvo network — including safeguarding refreshers and professional development. Training is not available yet; we'll share details with approved nannies when it launches.
